MT. PLEASANT — The Harlan-Lincoln house and all of it’s history is finally open to the public after over a year of having closed its doors with appointments being the only way to take a tour.
Now that restrictions have been lifted the Harlan Lincoln house is open. It’s hours are Monday through Thursday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in July. Starting in August the hours go back to Monday through Friday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Iowa Wesleyan University Vice President of Marketing Meg Richtman introduced the new director, Madison Pullis, and summarized the last year of the house’s history.
“When COVID hit in March of last year I never imagined that the house would be closed this long,“ she said. ”And we worked so hard back in 2017, to really get this house going and get the tourism back in it, so we were really hoping not to have to come and close the doors to people again.“
Now that the house is open again they can breathe a sigh of relief.
“We’re glad to be able to give the Harlan Lincoln House back to Iowa Wesleyan University and back to Mt. Pleasant,” Richtman said.
