MT. PLEASANT — The Harlan-Lincoln house in Mt. Pleasant is reopening Monday. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. there will be a reopening celebration.
After being closed for months, with a call-ahead appointment being the only option, the center is reopening.
Visitors will see a new director. Madison Pullis said she is excited to get the center open for walk-in visitors again.
“Unfortunately like what happened in a lot of places COVID hit, and it had to shutdown and the number of visitors dropped,” Pullis said. “We are excited to open back up again and have a reopening celebration.”
With fresh blood and a new director determined to get the house back to taking visitors, the Harlan-Lincoln house is ready to open it’s doors to the public.
“Since [the old director] left I am looking forward to get visitors back in, to getting people back in the mindset of visiting a historic house, and reconnecting with the history of Mt. Pleasant, because there is so much history in the area,” Pillis said.
The reopening celebration will be Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Harlan-Lincoln house located on the Iowa Wesleyan campus on Broad Street.
There will be refreshments and miniature tours.
The center will be open for the rest of July from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Starting in August, the house will be open Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
