Corn harvest has begun in Jefferson County with several fields already picked. Friday, Dan Horras was harvesting a 90-acre field just north of Fairfield that had been planted April 2. Horras said the corn was a 113-day variety shelling out at 18 percent moisture. ?It?s making between 130 and 140 bushels [per acre] which is about what I expected. Corn harvest has begun in Jefferson County with several fields already picked. Friday, Dan Horras was harvesting a 90-acre field just north of Fairfield that had been planted April 2. Horras said the corn was a 113-day variety shelling out at 18 percent moisture. ?It?s making between 130 and 140 bushels [per acre] which is about what I expected. If all our corn averages out that good, I?ll be pleased considering the year,? Horras replied when asked if the yield was better or worse than expected.
