Area high school basketball standouts Hanna Haynes and Lindsay Moore were recently honored with placement on the Class 2A all-Southeast District team. Players are selected by the Iowa Girls? Coaches Association.
Haynes, a 6-foot-2 senior center from Van Buren, averaged 19.4 points per game en route to a 443-point season. Her 273 rebounds and 131 blocked shots placed her in the top five of Class 2A in both categories as she led the Warriors to a 17-6 record this winter.
Moore, also a senior, was crucial to Cardinal?s success scoring a team-high 18 points per contest. Moore broke her school?s single-season scoring record with 395 points, and she also had a team-high 76 steals and 51 assists.
Both seniors were also previously named all-SEISC selections.
Brian Wheatley of North Linn was voted the district?s Coach of the Year.
