HC man convicted of sexual assault

A man was convicted of sexual assault that occurred in Henry County in 2018 after a four-day jury trial at the Henry County Courthouse that concluded on Friday, May 3.

Alex Spiker, 22, was convicted of sex abuse in the third degree, a Class C felony. Spiker was found to have offered a woman a ride home on April 6, 2018. While driving her, he stopped in a remote area in Henry County and forcefully sexually assaulted her.

Spiker is facing up to 10 years in prison. Sentencing is set for July 15, at the Henry County Courthouse.

The trial was presided over by District Court Judge Mark Kruse.

Darin Stater, Henry County Attorney, praised the prompt and thorough investigation by the Henry County Sheriff's Office.

Spiker is currently in the custody of the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
