HCHC BOT approves construction bids

MT. PLEASANT - The Henry County Health Center board of trustees approved four bids for three areas around the hospital in need of upgrades.
According to the advertisement for bids posted on its website, the first bid was for mechanical upgrades that consist of four air handling units, a new reverse osmosis system, exhaust fans, constant volume boxes with reheat, air valves and all new direct digital controls.
The second bid was for reconfiguring a 6,000 square foot unoccupied space in the pharmacy. New walls, flooring, doors, plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire alarm system and sprinklers will be installed. The third bid was for upgrading an occupied 11,500 square-foot space. It will receive new flooring, ceiling tile, paint, hardware, counters, HVAC lighting and a fire alarm system.
At the meeting on Thursday, Sept. 26, the board approved an $834,761 bid from Jean C. Wiley & Sons Building, of Mt. Pleasant, for general construction. The bid included an alternate for case work in the pharmacy and came in $13,000 under budget.
The bid for fire and sprinkler work was awarded to Continental Fire Sprinkler Co, of Davenport, for $26,930. The bid was 1,500 over budget.
Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Co., of Burlington, was awarded the bid for mechanical work $1,093,722. The bid was $73,000 under budget. Davison Electric, of Davenport, was awarded the electric bid at $244,980. The bid was $2,300 over budget.
Hospital CEO Robb Gardner said overall, the project came in 3.6 percent under budget. Carl A. Nelson & Company, of Burlington, will be the contractor on the project. The work is set to begin in January 2020.
