The Henry County Health Center has yet to finalize an agreement with Iowa Total Care, a new Managed Care Organization, that starts July 1.
Robb Gardner, hospital CEO, said that they are in dialogue with Iowa Total Care and are continuing to work with their representatives to come to an agreement.
'Our original discussions have put the health center at more of a disadvantage than prior agreements,” Gardner said during a board of trustees meeting on Tuesday, May 21.
The Henry County Health Center (HCHC) is seeking an agreement with Iowa Total Care since UnitedHealthcare, which manages care for more than 420,000 Iowans, announced in March their plan to exit the managed care program.
HCHC currently has an agreement with Amerigroup and UnitedHealthcare.
'We do know people in our community who are likely to transition (from UnitedHealthcare to Iowa Total Care),” Gardner said. 'We do not have an agreement today, but we have some distance to go. We don't want to put the health center at a greater disadvantage.”
Gardner said HCHC will continue to communicate with the public about where they stand with Iowa Total Care as the July 1 date draws nearer.
