Health center ends fiscal year with $2.3 million net income
Jefferson County Health Center closed its fiscal year June 30 with a net income more than 100 percent more than anticipated.

Jefferson County Health Center closed its fiscal year June 30 with a net income more than 100 percent more than anticipated.
In his operating statement highlights to the board of trustees July 23, Chief Financial Officer Gene Irwin said the health center?s net income was $2,252,808, 129 percent more than the budgeted $982,910.
?We?ve had a lot of growth in about every area,? Irwin told the trustees.
A few of the examples, he listed were: outpatient services were up 8 percent compared to last year; lab procedures were up 9 percent; and the sleep lab studies were up 21 percent.
The $2.3 million net income for the 2012 fiscal year is 145 percent more than the negative $3.808,439 net income the health center ended the 2011 fiscal year.
In June, Irwin reported to the trustees the health center had ended May with a net income of $88,300, 56.3 percent less than the $202,288 it had budgeted. The health center?s yearly net income at that time was $2,086,224, which was 151.3 percent more than the $830,172 it had budgeted.
In July, trustee Renee Rebling, chairwoman of the board?s finance/HR committee, said the health center had a good June.
Irwin reported the health center ended June with a net income of $166,583, 9.1 percent more than the $152,738 it had budgeted, and the total net income for the year totaled $2,252,808.
Irwin said Jefferson County Health Center?s gross account receivable increased by $20,679 to $5,088,659 as of June 30. In addition, there is a physician clinic account receivable of $136,346 for a total gross accounts receivable of $5,225,005. Total allowances were $1,534,000 for a net account receivable of $3,691,005.
A total of 3,785 claims were filed in June, with a gross value of $3,334,578. Medicare collections for the month totaled $765,554. Medicaid collections for the month were $128,848. Total patient collections for the month of June including Medicare, Medicaid and physician clinic was $1,755,076.
