Henry County begins slide repair project

MT. PLEASANT - The Henry County Engineers Office began road work on Jewel Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
The office closed off one lane on a 635-foot stretch of the road for a slide repair and anticipates the project will take approximately one month to complete.
Lloyd McIntyre, assistant to the county engineer, said the department will be reinforcing the nearby embankment to prevent continued sliding.
'We're going to armor it with riprap at the base to keep the creek channel from creeping toward the road,” he said.
