Henry County fair kicks off
Livestock arrives; 4-H judging begins

MT. PLEASANT — The Henry County fair started looking alive Wednesday morning as trailers filled with livestock rolled into McMillan Park headed to the Henry County fairgrounds.
Livestock of all sorts began filing into their stalls early Wednesday morning, including chickens, rabbits, pigs, cows, sheep and goats.
4-H members from all around the county roamed the grounds including Quintrie Lee who was near the poultry and rabbit barn.
Lee will be showing rabbits, chickens, cows, a horse and a goat.
Lee is part of the Salem Stars 4-H group based in Salem. She said she participates in 4-H because she likes to spend time with animals.
“It’s fun, and It’s gets me out of the house having fun with my friends,” Lee said.
On Thursday, July 15, there is the dog show in the Wright Pavilion at 10 a.m. and the 4-H/ Farm Bureau Bottle Animal Show at 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, July 16, there is the swine show at 8 a.m., the rabbit show at 1 p.m., and Clover Kid graduation at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, July 17, there is the beef show at 9 a.m., the beef production show at 9 a.m., and the poultry show at 2 p.m.
On Sunday, July 18, 4-H finishes the fair with the horse show at 8:30 a.m., sheep show at 10 a.m. and finally the goat show at 2 p.m.
