Henry County Health Center honored for financial success
Jul. 7, 2021 12:20 pm
MT. PLEASANT — Henry County Health Center has been named as a recipient of the 2021 MAP Award for High Performance in Revenue Cycle, sponsored by the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
The national award was presented in five categories, ranging from physician practices and critical access hospitals to integrated delivery systems. Thirty-two hospitals and health systems were honored June 29 with the associations award. This year, four critical access hospitals received MAP Award honors, with three of those hospitals located in Iowa. HCHC tied for first place in the critical access hospital category.
Presented as part of association’s Annual Conference Virtual Preview, the awards recognize organizations that have used innovative and effective strategies to achieve excellence in revenue cycle performance in 2020-21. Award recipients are acknowledged as industry leaders and share proven strategies with their colleagues.
MAP Award winners are selected based on their demonstrated ability to:
- Meet industry-standard revenue cycle bench marks as measured by the association’s MAP Keys
- Implement the patient-centered recommendations and best practices described in the association’s Healthcare Dollars & Sense initiatives
- Achieve outstanding patient satisfaction
In 2009, HCHC received Healthcare Financial Management Association’s High Performance in Revenue Cycle Award and was recognized in the association’s Patient Friendly Billing Project. Of the 14 hospitals recognized, HCHC was the only Iowa hospital and the only critical access hospital honored in the nation. HCHC again won the award in 2013, 2018 and 2019. HCHC is the only critical access hospital in the nation to have won the MAP Award more than once.
“It is an honor for Henry County Health Center to receive HFMA’s 2021 MAP Award for High Performance in Revenue Cycle. HCHC has always done an excellent job on the revenue cycle, but it took the hospital as an organization to achieve this status with our improvement in patient satisfaction scores, process improvement and price transparency,” said Dave Muhs, HCHC chief financial officer. “We are grateful to each of our associates, medical staff and board of trustees for their commitment to our patients and contributions to the success of this organization. HCHC is proud to be a leader in rural health care which is shown through this year’s national recognition of the MAP Award.”
The MAP Award winners will be celebrated as part of the association’s in-person annual conference event, Nov. 8-10 in Minneapolis.
Created by and for health care leaders, Healthcare Financial Management Association’s MAP initiative sets the standard for revenue cycle excellence in the health care industry. MAP is a comprehensive strategy that allows organizations to measure revenue cycle performance using the industry-standard MAP Keys; apply evidence-based strategies for improvement; and perform to the highest standards to improve financial results and patient satisfaction.
