Henry County inmate assaults nurse and jail staff in Henry County

MT. PLEASANT - A Henry County Jail inmate assaulted a nurse and jail staff member last Thursday while receiving medical treatment at Henry County Health Center.

According to a news release from the Henry County Sheriff's Office:

Noel Alberto Alejandro Delgado, 44, of Mt. Pleasant had been taken to the hospital emergency where he assaulted the nurse and jail staff member who was overseeing Delgado. The sheriff's office was notified of a disturbance at the health center at approximately 11:34 p.m.

Delgado was restrained and transported back to the jail and later charged with assault on persons in certain occupations, causing bodily injury and interference with corrections official causing bodily injury.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, security at the Henry County Health Center and a correctional officer with the Mt. Pleasant Prison.
