Henry County inmate charged with assault

At approximately 12:24 a.m. Saturday, an inmate at the Henry County Jail assaulted multiple staff members.

According to a report from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, inmate Jeremiah Trevaughn Dean, 23, of Iowa City became combative with jail staff and officers when staff was attempting to remove him from a jail cell. As a result, jail staff and a deputy received minor injuries.

Dean was charged with four counts of assault by inmate with bodily fluids or secretions (Class D felonies), assault on persons in certain occupations with bodily injury (aggravated misdemeanor), and interference with official acts causing bodily injury (serious misdemeanor).
