Henry County inmate confirmed COVID-19 case

MT. PLEASANT - A Henry County inmate who was transferred to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center (IMCC) tested positive for COVID-19, the Iowa Department of Corrections confirmed Thursday.
'As part of IMCC's efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, all new admissions are kept in an intake quarantine cohort for 14-day observation. While in this quarantine observation, the inmate began displaying symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Medical staff then conducted a test on the inmate, which was returned as positive,” the department stated in a press release.
At the time of the notice, the inmate was in medical isolation and contact tracing was in place to identify exposure to any other inmates or staff. The inmate is a male adult aged 18-40 sho was sentenced for drug crimes, the release stated.
