HENRY COUNTY - The Henry County Sheriff's Office reported four car vs. deer accidents from the week of Oct. 25. No injuries were reported from any of the incidents.
Reich Yaley of Danville was traveling eastbound on Oakland Mills on Oct. 25 road when a deer ran onto the road causing Yaley to strike the deer. Estimated damage to Yaley's Chevy Malibu is $2,500. The Henry County Sheriff's Office was notified of the accident at approximately 6:56 p.m. that evening.
On Oct. 26, the Henry County Sheriff's Office took a report of a vehicle accident at approximately 6:55 p.m. Ryan Rees of Winfield was traveling westbound on 130th Street when Rees struck a deer that had entered the roadway.
The office took a report of another vehicle vs. deer accident the same night at approximately 8 p.m. Krysta Lehman of Mt. Union was traveling northbound on Oasis Avenue when she struck a deer. Lehman's GMC Acadia suffered approximately $3,500 in damages.
The office reported an additional deer accident which occurred last Thursday. Kendall Bremer of Blakesburge struck a deer while traveling westbound on Highway 34. Bremer's car was completely totaled from the accident.
The sheriff's office suggests residents stay vigilant through midwinter, when white deer are in their breeding and hunted seasons and travel more frequently.
'We suggest slowing down, paying extreme attention to the roadside ditches, and avoiding distractions behind the wheel. Cellphones, passengers, radio, etc. would fall into the distractions,” Henry County Sheriff Rich McNamee said.
