Henry County resident turns himself in for shooting at campground

HENRY COUNTY - A Henry County man has turned himself in following a police investigation of shots fired at an area campground.
Henry County resident Todd Smith turned himself in at a rural residence in the county on Sunday, Sept. 15, following an incident the previous day in which the Henry County Sheriff's Office received reports of shots being fired at a group of individuals at the Ketchum Bridge Campground, west of Mt. Pleasant.
According to a news release, the authorities received a 911 call at about 10:31 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 14, 'regarding shots being fired at a group of individuals.” The following day, at around 1:58 p.m., Smith turned himself in and was charged with 'two counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.” Smith is currently being held on a $15,000 bond.
The news release also noted that the sheriff's office worked alongside the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Henry County Attorney's Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
