The polls are closed, and Henry County voters now have their next line of school board members.
The Henry County school board elections this year were relatively simple for county voters.
Community members found themselves voting for more than one candidate in most cases, but the number of candidates matched the number of open seats in all districts. This, of course, doesn’t account for write-ins.
Mt. Pleasant
Incumbents Kevin Sandersfeld and Willey Amos were both voted in for another term, with Amos representing District 2 and Sandersfeld District 5.
Following the decision to step down by Martha Wiley, Derek Mullin ran unopposed for the first district.
New London
In New London, there were two open seats with two community members running for the at-large candidacy.
Incumbent Lindsay Porter was elected to another term, along with new member Kyle Helmerson joining.
Wayland/WACO
School board voting in Wayland was much like the other school board races across the county. Both incumbents were voted in. Barb Shelman for district four and Tim Graber for the at-large seat.
In District 2, the winner was Neil Rich with a write-in vote of 29.
Winfield
Winfield saw an interesting outcome.
Aaron Cummings was the lone candidate running for one of the two seats on the ballot. Cummings earns a seat with 89 votes.
Matt Nelson will take the second seat with an outstanding write-in vote of 96.
