Rural theft
A theft of property from a farm in the 1300 grid of Dakota Avenue, rural Wayland, was report to the Henry County Sheriff?s Office the morning of July 23.

Rural theft
A theft of property from a farm in the 1300 grid of Dakota Avenue, rural Wayland, was report to the Henry County Sheriff?s Office the morning of July 23.
During the investigation, it was found that a farm owner there had several pieces of farm equipment and supplies missing from the property. The missing items include a Honda ATV, a silage auger wagon, hog waterers, white colored wheels for a trailer, a motorized post hole auger and a spare wheel and tire for a skid loader.
According to the report, the investigation involves a civil dispute with a tenant at the property and remains under investigation.
Potential thief fled
A subject was spotted entering a residential property in the 1400 grid of Gabriel Avenue and fled when the resident arrived home.
The account was reported to the sheriff?s office at approximately 4:34 p.m. on July 24.
According to the report, the resident noticed that the subject had been attempting to steal personal property from the residence.
Deputies responded to the call and conducted a complete search of the property, including outbuildings, but the subject was not located.
Single-vehicle crash
Johsua Stortz, 27, of Mt. Pleasant failed to notice a sharp curve in the road as he was traveling westbound in the 1300 grid of 255th Street and crashed his vehicle.
The wreck happened at approximately 8:48 p.m., July 28.
Stortz was operating his 1994 Chevrolet pickup when he failed to negotiate the turn and left the roadway. The truck sustained substantial damage to the front end when it impacted the embakment of the ditch. The vehicle came to rest in a soybean field owned by Don Stukerjurgen of rural Mt. Pleasant.
Stortz was not injured in the accident.
Car and deer collide
A car accident involving a deer was reported at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 27. The collision occurred in the 1600 grid of Salem Road.
A 2000 Honda CR-V, owned and operated by Jennie Wesely of Salem, sustained approximately $2,500 in damages when it struck a deer that had run into the vehicle?s path.
Nobody in the Wesely vehicle reported injuries.
