Routine traffic stop leads to arrest
Monday afternoon, Oct. 17, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Tammy Lyn Aplara, 32, of Mt. Pleasant was stopped for a traffic violation. Aplara?s license was found to be suspended five times for nonpayment of Iowa fines and once for nonpayment of child support.
Aplara was then arrested and taken to the Henry County Jail. She was charged with driving under suspension for nonpayment...

Routine traffic stop leads to arrest
Monday afternoon, Oct. 17, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Tammy Lyn Aplara, 32, of Mt. Pleasant was stopped for a traffic violation. Aplara?s license was found to be suspended five times for nonpayment of Iowa fines and once for nonpayment of child support.
Aplara was then arrested and taken to the Henry County Jail. She was charged with driving under suspension for nonpayment of fine, driving under suspension for nonpayment of child support and a stop sign violation.
She was held for her initial appearance on $900 bond.
Single vehicle wreck
A single vehicle accident occurred in the 1200 grid of 200th Street Monday evening, Oct. 17. The Henry County Sheriff?s Office was notified of the wreck at 6:42 p.m.
An investigation found that a 1987 Mack truck was being operated by Chad Ball, no age given, of Winfield when the vehicle left the road. The truck entered the north ditch, striking trees and a fence before stopping.
Ball was transported to Henry County Health Center by a private vehicle for treatment. No charges were filed.
Sunday morning OWI
Early Sunday morning, Oct. 16, at approximately 6:15 a.m. Riki Christner, no age given, of Mt. Pleasant was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Christner was also charged with driving while revoked and failure to obey a stop sign.
Two car vs. deer collisions
Saturday morning, Oct. 15, just before 7 a.m. a car accident was reported just south of the Skunk River on Highway 218.
Jana Crull, no age given, of Mt. Pleasant was operating the vehicle when it struck the deer. The vehicle suffered approximately $1,500 in damages and no injuries were reported.
Monday evening, Oct. 17, at approximately 7:56 p.m. the sheriff?s office was notified of another vehicle colliding into a deer. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 34, just east of X-23.
A 2010 Ford Escape owned by Hart Leasing and driven by Murphey Shaw, 43, of Rochester, N.Y. struck a deer that ran into the path of the eastbound vehicle. The Escape sustained substantial frontend damage. Shaw was not injured in the accident.
