Phone scam targeting grandparents reported
A ?Grandparent Scam? was reported July 30 by a resident in Henry County.
The resident stated that a subject called him acting as if he was his grandson. The subject was acting like he was in trouble and was crying on the phone, attempting to get the resident to state the name of one of his grandchildren, in an attempt to try to receive transferred money.

Phone scam targeting grandparents reported
A ?Grandparent Scam? was reported July 30 by a resident in Henry County.
The resident stated that a subject called him acting as if he was his grandson. The subject was acting like he was in trouble and was crying on the phone, attempting to get the resident to state the name of one of his grandchildren, in an attempt to try to receive transferred money.
The phone scammer stated he was in trouble in Ontario, Canada.
The sheriff?s office urges residents to beware of any calls soliciting money, ?especially through Western Union or similar services.? The sheriff?s office also recomends that residents independently verify reports of family members in foreign countries.
Vehicle vandalized
Reportedly, a vehicle was vandalized in the 400 block of East Front Street. The report was received by the Henry County Sheriff?s Office at approximately 3:53 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 1.
The incident remains under investigation.
Another ATV stolen
A four-wheeler was reported stolen from the 1500 grid of Benton Avenue on Aug. 1.
The ATV is described as a blue 2010 Yamaha Grizzly.
Anyong with information about this theft is asked to call the sheriff?s office.
Neglected animal reported
A report was received of an animal neglected in the 3300 grid of Benton Avenue on Aug. 1, at approximately 5:52 p.m.
This incident remains under investigation.
Car vs. deer accident
Tracy A Sammons of Mt. Pleasant struck a deer with her 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan on July 29, at approximately 9:21 p.m.
Sammons was westbound in the 1300 grid of 260th Street when the collision occurred. Damage to the van was estimated at $3,500.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
