Slush causes Salem woman to wreck
A 2007 Chrysler Town and Country van owned and operated by Sandra Lynn Anderson was involved in a one vehicle accident in the 1200 grid of 310th Street on Jan. 15, at approximately 2:23 p.m.
Anderson, 36, of Salem was westbound on 310th Street when she hit some slush and snow in the road. She lost control of the vehicle and it entered the north ditch.

Slush causes Salem woman to wreck
A 2007 Chrysler Town and Country van owned and operated by Sandra Lynn Anderson was involved in a one vehicle accident in the 1200 grid of 310th Street on Jan. 15, at approximately 2:23 p.m.
Anderson, 36, of Salem was westbound on 310th Street when she hit some slush and snow in the road. She lost control of the vehicle and it entered the north ditch.
The Town and Country then struck a farm fence owned by Melvin Krogmeier of Salem. The van then struck some small trees and came to rest facing northwest in the ditch.
Anderson was taken to the hospital by private vehicle for complaints of minor pain.
Damages were estimated at $4,500 to the Anderson vehicle and $200 to the Krogmeier fence.
Rural teens caught harassing fellow student
A harassment complaint involving teenagers was investigated Saturday, Jan. 16.
The sheriff?s office responded to a harassment complaint in the 1600 grid of Nebraska Avenue at approximately 5:18 p.m.
The harassment involved younger teenage children. At the request of the victim?s parent, all those known to be involved along with their parents were contacted. The offending parties were directed to stop harassing activities.
The Winfield-Mt. Union School District was also notified of the incident.
Salvage tag result of accident
An early morning accident involving a deer was investigated west of Salem on 310th Street.
At approximately 6:05 a.m. on Jan. 16, a pick up truck versus deer accident was reported. No damage was done to the pick up and a salvage tag was issued for the deer.
Icy Highway 78 puts two vehicles in ditch
Two vehicles went in the ditch on Highway 78 due to icy roads.
The vehicles went into the ditch just west of Oasis Avenue south of Winfield. The sheriff?s office was notified at approximately 7:38 a.m., Jan. 16.
Minor damage was done to John Kern?s vehicle. Kern is a resident of Winfield. No damage was reported to Dustin Schneider?s vehicle. Schneider is from Wapello. No injuries were reported.
Slick road causes truck to spin
Yesterday afternoon, a truck operated by Kiley Robert Miller, 16, of rural Mt. Pleasant went in the ditch in the 1900 grid of Franklin Avenue.
Miller was operating a 2004 Dodge Dakota, owned by Destin Miller, when the incident occurred. Miller was northboud on Franklin Avenue just prior to the accident, at approximately 3:11 p.m.
The Miller vehicle spun around on the icy road surface and entered the east ditch. The Dakota came to rest facing southbound.
No injuries were reported at the scene and damages were estimated at $200 to the Miller vehicle.
