After agreeing to open up skate park funds to all communities within Henry County, Healthy Henry County Communities board members decided it might be a good idea to formulate an application for those requests.
?Travis (Johnson) and I talked more and in order to (open up the funds to each community), we need some sort of a process and an application so that we can be justifying our decisions on who we are giving that money to,? said Kelly Carr, Healthy Henry County Communities coordinator.
Carr said she went to the Tony Hawk Foundation website and reviewed examples of their application before settling on one for the organization. ?It?s way more than I would have come up with off the top of my head, but it has good questions and if someone is applying it?s things that are good for them to be thinking about,? she said.
The application was approved.
Carr asked for three volunteers to sit on a committee to score applications once they start coming in.
Carr added that if an application were approved, the grant would require a budget amendment in order to give the funds.
During the meeting, the board also discussed upcoming events.
Oct. 12 will be a busy day in Henry County as a candidate forum to discuss children?s needs is planned from 6-7:30 p.m., at the Henry County Extension Office, 127 North Main St., as well as a mental health awareness parent meeting at 7 p.m., at the Mt. Pleasant High School.
The organization will host the Healthy Halloween Walk on Oct. 23, at East Lake Park. Volunteers are still needed for the event.
Lastly, a boot camp for new dads will be held on Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The next HHCC board meeting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the HCHC Health Education Center.
