High gas prices?
According to GasBuddy.com, 2012 began with an average U.S. price of gas at $3.26/gallon.
Beginning of the year prices per gallon for the previous five years was as follows: 2007: $2.19; 2008: $2.96; 2009: $1.59; 2010: $2.61; and 2011: $3.02.

Beginning of the year prices per gallon for the previous five years was as follows: 2007: $2.19; 2008: $2.96; 2009: $1.59; 2010: $2.61; and 2011: $3.02.
During the past seven years, the average price movement from the beginning of the year to the peak price posted during the year has been $0.93 cents a gallon and as high as $1.31 per gallon.
Past history does not bode well for this year, because that would mean a peak price in 2012 of over $4.00 per gallon.
