How will your high school experiences help you in coming years?
My high school experiences will help me in coming years in many ways. I have learned many life skills such as leadership, responsibility, communication and many others. throughout high school, I have learned to try new things and step out of my comfort zone to better myself and others around me.
Fondest memory of high school?
My fondest memory in high school would be my experiences in FFA. FFA taught me how to become a better leader, and I have made some of my favorite memories and friends in this organization. It has helped me become the person that I am today by pushing me to always do my best and try new things. I have learned and grown so much through this organization.
Which teachers have had the biggest impact on your education and why?
Throughout my years at Highland, I have had many influential teachers. One of those teachers would be my guidance counselor, Mr. Ball. Mr. Ball has encouraged me to try new things and never be afraid. He always gives great advice and has helped guide me to where I am today. He always pushes me to do my best, and I am so thankful that I have had him in my life.
Who is your role model and how did they influence you?
I have many role models in my life but one of my biggest ones are my parents. My mom has always been my biggest supporter in life. She forced me to try new things that I was scared to do, which helped me become the person I am today. She works very hard and never gives up. She is confident and always believes in herself even when things get hard. My dad has been my rock since Day 1. He is the hardest working person I know and is selfless. He is kind to everyone and taught me work ethic.
What is special about your high school?
My high school will always have a special place in my heart. It holds many memoriesand friendships that I will cherish forever. It has also taught me many lessons in life and helped shape me in to the person I am today. I will forever cherish my time at Highland High School because of the many influential people I have been surrounded by.
If you could go back to when you were a freshman, what advice would you give yourself?
If I could go back to when I was a freshman, I would tell myself to believe in myself more and not care about what other people think. In high school it is easy to want to take the “easy way out” when I should have learned sooner that everything you want lies on the other side of fear. As a freshman, I was always scared to try new things when I should have taken the opportunities to help better myself and learn new things. I wish I would have had more confidence in myself and learned that it is best to be yourself.
