RIVERSIDE — Graduates of the Highland class of 2022 received their diplomas Sunday afternoon. The 40 graduating seniors recalled a public school career of camaraderie.
“I think we need to acknowledge how far we’ve come,” Salutatorian Connor Grinstead said. “Four years ago, we were divided as a class … but now, senior year, we thought it would be a good idea to spend the night together, camped out outside of the school. I am immensely proud of this class.”
Superintendent Ken Crawford offered the class a few words of encouragement at the graduation ceremony.
“In the next five years your going to run into more experiences and more people, and they’re going to think differently than you,” he said. “I’m hoping that … you’ll stay curious. Listen to other points of view, look at what’s happening out there in the world, and really say, ‘Where do I stand.’”
