Highland returning to hybrid learning model

RIVERSIDE - The Highland middle and high school has transitioned back to hybrid learning.
Starting today, the secondary school will have rotating A and B days. This will last through at least Nov. 25.
Students are in the same groups as the beginning of the school year unless otherwise notified. The students will rotate between in-person learning and online learning every other day.
'The number of secondary students that are testing positive for COVID or are quarantining continues to grow,” said Superintendent Ken Crawford in a letter. 'We believe that going hybrid will help the students spread out even more and will slow the community spread.”
Crawford said he believes the model is in the best interest for students educationally and emotionally.
At this time, Crawford said the elementary school numbers do not warrant hybrid learning, and they will continue in-person learning.
This is fluid, Crawford said, and could change daily depending on any positive tests or outside school environment.
'We are hoping students will limit their contact outside of school so they do not get quarantined from those interaction,” he said.
Parents will be informed before Thanksgiving break as to what education model will be used when students return Nov. 30.
