On Tuesday, Aug. 2, area children gathered at the Hillsboro Community Center for the library?s annual Back-to-School Bingo for children in kindergarten through high school this fall.
When the children shouted bingo for the first time, they were sent to the big table and received a stack of school supplies donated by community members and businesses. Samantha Helmers was the first lucky student. The next time the children shouted bingo, they were sent to the small table for specialty type of school supplies. Amanda Hofmeyer was awarded the person to take the longest to win and pick her supplies from the big table.
After all children visited the big table, the caller, Marshall Stevens, announced the black out game, everyone?s favorite. The winner of black out, Hannah Reinier, received a pizza and a movie rental from Kramer?s Gas and Grocery in Salem.
During bingo, the children were served popcorn and beverages. Rhonda Runyon, Peggy Stevens and Louis Stevens volunteered at the event.
Upcoming activities:
On Monday, Aug. 15, the library will be having an exotic food sampling event for the Summer Reading Program. Stop by anytime during open hours, 3 - 5:30 p.m., and sample some of the fruits and vegetables. Learn where they are grown and pick up a recipe to take home and try some of these exotic foods you may be reading about in your Summer Reading Program adventure.
This is your last chance to earn your points for an August activity.
