Hillsboro man with loaded weapon arrested

A Hillsboro man was arrested for carrying a loaded weapon by a Henry County Sheriff's deputy on Monday, March 11. There were no injuries.
Max Benge, 54, of Hillsboro, was stopped in the 2100 block of E. Washington Street at 9:45 p.m. Monday. During the stop, the Sheriff's Office K-9 was deployed and the vehicle was searched.
A loaded handgun was located. Benge was arrested and charged with carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor; no valid driver's license, a simple misdemeanor; and failure to prove security against liability, a simple misdemeanor.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
