New on the shelf:
Adult nonfiction: Dressing and Cooking Wild Game by Teresa Marrone gives the reader a perspective from field to table of big game, small game, upland birds and waterfowl which includes colored pictures and illustrations. This book will help the beginner or the experienced hunter who may need a refresher on knife selection, field dressing, butchering and freezing your game. For the cook, approximately half the book is full of recipes and photographs of a variety of dishes from fillet of venison, old-fashioned venison stew, Mexican enchilada casserole, oven-barbecued rabbit to roast goose with baked apples.
Adult fiction: The Caregiver by Shelley Shepard Gray is book one of the series Families of Honor. It is about Lucy, an Amish widow, who is traveling via a train to Jacob?s Crossing to care for her cousin who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The only other Amish people on the train are Calvin Weaver and his little sister. When their train breaks down, Calvin and Lucy band together to face the outside world. Once in Jacob?s Crossing, Lucy is occupied with caring for her cousin, while Calvin does his best to run his family?s farm. But they cannot stop thinking about those special hours spent together. Will the bond they formed last? And will Lucy and Calvin be able to put away the pain in their pasts to recognize the happiness that is suddenly in their grasp?
Young adult fiction: Top 8 by Katie Finn is about social networking sites which are the place to be for today?s teens. This novel explores the ups, downs and scandals of a group of friends online. Madison MacDonald is seriously freaking out. She is 16 from Putnam, Conn., Status: Single? If you enjoy Top 8, the library also has What?s Your St@tus and Unfriended by Katie Finn.
