WASHINGTON — Organizers from Main Street Washington said the group’s historic downtown walking tours the afternoons of Oct. 15 & 22 were a success.
“Main Street Washington and the Washington Historic Preservation Commission would like to thank everyone who joined us the last two weekends while we explored spaces, delved into the past, and learned about future projects,” said a post on MSW’s Facebook page. “We are especially grateful for all of the owners and volunteers who gave their precious time to make these tours a success.”
The walking groups visited a total of nine locations on the tour, including Washington’s courthouse, State Theatre, centennial fountain and the diner formerly known as Winga’s, according to a brochure given to participants, who learned about the sites’ past, present, and plans for the future.
Funds raised by the walking tour will help finance updated holiday hanging baskets in the square, as well as “other holiday decor” according to Main Street Washington.
