Hitting the catwalk at JP’s 207
Mar. 29, 2019 11:13 am
It was a sold out house at JP's Thursday night as 95 tickets were sold to the annual spring fashion show sponsored by Main Street Washington.
Multiple downtown businesses participated in the annual fashion show, including Jazz It Up which provided many of the outfits for the 17 models at the show. Owner Aimee Enfield said the fashion show is something she looks forward to every year and begins planning for in January.
She said her favorite part of the show is being able to help promote the businesses downtown by having a time and place to showcase what they have to offer.
'It's great to get everybody together and all the women are excited for spring and seeing new things, so we all complement each other with the shoes and the jewelry and the clothing,” she said.
In the past, there has only been one show at Dodici's shop but Main Street director Sarah Grunewaldt said they decided to add a second show at JP's this year in attempts to garner a different crowd.
Also new this year was the use of pop-up shops which allowed the participating local businesses to have their pieces both on display and for sale. Businesses, like The Village, Don's Jewlery, Brown's Shoe Fit, Re-Purpose It, Dodici's Shop and Earthly Blessings.
Char Andersen, of Creations by Char in The Village, also had pieces on display. She explained she was excited to see so many people supporting the downtown shops.
Washington Mayor and JP's owner, Jaron Rosien, said he was excited to be able to promote local business in his own place because backing local venues backing each other is how he feels Washington will become a stronger community.
'It's great to have the event here because Main Street is a great organization,” he said. 'Tonight's event is a great example of lots of businesses coming together to support.”
He explained that by having multiple retail businesses come together and support each other, it helps makes the downtown stronger.
'I think it's a great example of many entities supporting the cause of shopping local and supporting Washington,” he said.
