Holiday prompts Monday closings

Some offices will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

No mail will be delivered. The Fairfield Ledger will, however, be published.

The Jefferson County Clerk of Court?s Office and Jefferson County Attorney?s Office will be closed. All other Jefferson County offices will be open.

Fairfield city offices also will be open Monday.

Area senior meal sites are closed Monday.

Fairfield and Pekin school districts will not have classes Monday.

Garbage collection and curbside recycling collection will be not be impacted.

The Fairfield Public Library and Roosevelt Community Recreation Center will be open regular hours.

All Iowa Department of Transportation offices will be closed.  All Iowa DOT driver?s license stations normally open Tuesday through Saturday will be closed Saturday in observance of the holiday. The stations will resume normal hours Tuesday.

The Iowa DOT?s Office of Motor Carrier Services, normally open Monday-Friday, will be closed Monday, and normal business hours will resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday.Oversize/overweight loads are allowed to move on this holiday, as long as permits were obtained in advance.
