Saturday, the Holiday Stroll Committee sponsored its first “Christmas in July” sidewalk sale.
The day was warm. Tents appeared in front of 136 W Main. This is the site of the former Chasmacian Crafter.
Inside, Holiday Stroll had free hot dogs and drinks for the first 20 shoppers. Many vendors chose to have tables showing their wares in the air conditioning.
Items available ranged from popular baked goods and interesting homemade sauces to turned wood bowls, leather art and jewelry.
Vendors came from Fort Madison and Birmingham as well as New London.
It is August of course but scheduling issues necessitated having the introductory shopping day in August. “Christmas in August” just doesn’t have the same ring as “Christmas in July.” so the Holiday stayed with the original name. This will alert everyone, and they will be looking for the scheduled day in 2024
Watch for new ideas in fundraising as the Holiday Stroll continues to ensure that the 2023 December celebration is memorable and fun.
All money raised supports the Holiday Stroll activities and a wonderful Christmas is provided for a New London family in need.
