Home burns in rural Riverside Thursday
RIVERSIDE - Area fire departments responded to a house fire just after noon on Wednesday.
The two-story house is located just north of Highland High School on Underwood Avenue.
Washington, Riverside, Ainsworth, Lone Tree and Hills Fire Department all responded to the call. Smoke billowed from the house, with the dark cloud visible from Washington.
Washington County sheriff's deputies blocked traffic from the dead-end road to make room for the variety of fire trucks in and out of the scene.
The family was not at home when the fire started.
