Hospice memorial 5k happening this weekend

WASHINGTON — Hospice of Washington County will hold its 24th annual memorial 5K run/walk starting in Sunset Park the Saturday, Sept. 16. Check-in starts at 8 a.m., the race begins at 9.

A flyer for the event said teams and family members of loved ones were encouraged to participate, submitting signs and photos to place along the route, whether the person used Washington’s hospice service or not.

“This is event is more than just a fundraiser for Hospice of Washington County,” Hospice of Washington County Director Katrina Altenhofen said. “It provides a time for which the community can reflect on those who are no longer with us … Signs are put up per a walker/runners request on who they are doing the event for.”

Those interested are encouraged to email photos, names, special dates and a short message for a sign to be placed along the Kewash Trail to Info@hospicewc.com, or bring the information to the Hospice of Washington County Office.
