JEFFERSON COUNTY - A family has been forced out of their house due to fire damage.
A home north of Fairfield was badly damaged by a fire that broke out on Wednesday night.
The home, located at 2225 152nd St. about 7 miles north of Fairfield just off Highway 1, received significant fire damage to its kitchen. Fairfield Fire Chief Scott Vaughan said there were no injuries from the fire, and no one was home at the time of the fire.
The fire was called in at 9:37 p.m.
Vaughan said the fire, smoke and water damage to the house was severe enough to force the family to find other living arrangements for now.
The occupants of the home arrived on scene just as the firefighters were beginning to leave around midnight. The occupant of the house was listed as Nolan Champ.
Packwood Fire Department assisted with fire response through a mutual aid agreement.
Vaughan said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
