Human remains discovered near Walton Lake

On the afternoon of Friday, April 8, the human remains of an individual were located near the train tracks south of Walton Lake in Jefferson County.
According to a news release from Jefferson County Attorney Chauncy Moulding, the remains were found in an advanced state of decomposition and are believed to have been there for a year or longer.
“They are suspected to belong to an adult male, but have not been identified as of this time,” the release stated.
Cause of death has not been established, and the investigation is ongoing, however initial investigation does not indicate any evidence of foul play.
Persons with information are requested to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
