Hungry caterpillar

Lauren Steigleder, daughter of Troy and Amy Steigleder of Libertyville, uses a magnet to move a ?caterpillar? up the bottle to eat some fruit as in the Eric Carle book ?The Very Hungry Caterpillar.? More than 80 parents and children attended the PAT a Cakes Family Literacy event Tuesday evening at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The event was presented by Southern Iowa Economic Development Association Parents as Teachers and Head Start programs. Cosponsors of the event were Cambridge Investment Research Inc., Rolling Prairie Chapter Iowa AEYC and AIM Early Childhood Iowa. The evening was themed on the book ? after engaging in caterpillar activities and listening to the story, children were able to take home some free books and caterpillar story stretcher activities.
