Hy-Vee opens new gas station and Fast and Fresh Express
Washington may have waked up to subzero temperatures this Friday morning, but it was nice and toasty inside the new Hy-Vee gas station and Fast and Fresh Express.
The station officially opened in the corner of the Hy-Vee parking lot at 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, after nearly three months of construction. Hy-Vee store manager Mark Maher said the new gas station has six pumps with three kinds of gas available and the Fast and Fresh Express kiosk features everything from fountain beverages to grab-and-go pizzas to prepackaged snacks. Maher said fresh food will be available as well.
'We're trying to take a little bit of what we're known for as a grocery store and incorporate that into our gas stations,” he said.
He said the kiosk is a smaller version of similar kiosks Hy-Vee is unveiling and only the fourth of its size in the state, but the new gas station is unique to Washington. The new building will be open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily. Maher said staff are excited for the new building and anticipate success in the new space.
'We look forward to welcoming the Washington community into our new location and are excited to provide another service for our customers,” he said.

Construction on the project began in late October. The new building features six gas pumps and fresh as well as prepackaged food inside. The store will be open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.
