Hy-Vee Inc. announced last week that it would begin a monthlong campaign to honor the United States military and its veteran.
They also will strive to raise awareness of and support organizations dedicated to assisting veterans, along with active-duty military and their families.
This campaign is a segment of the company’s annual Hy-Vee Homefront initiative. The program consists of several company efforts, including “Hy-Vee Homefront Round-up,” a program at checkout, the free Veterans Day breakfast, and an active recruitment effort to hire veterans and military personnel making the transition from the military back to civilian life.
Hy-Vee Homefront Round up is an annual fundraiser where the company teams up with customers to raise money to support veterans and active-duty military.
The fundraiser is held from Nov. 1-14 at over 285 Hy-Vee stores and 17 Dollar Fresh locations. Hy-Vee will match all customer donations up to $100,000 will benefit Hope for the Warriors, Operation First Response, Puppy Jake Foundation, and the American Red Cross.
Donations can be made online at hy-vee.com.
Hiring Heroes is Hy-Vee’s recruiting initiative to seek out veterans or active-duty military to work for Hy-Vee. They will hold several virtual events for service members throughout the month to learn about different career opportunities.
The Veterans Day Dine-In Breakfast is an event held on Veterans Day that commemorates those who have served and continue to serve with a complimentary breakfast. A buffet-style breakfast will be offered from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Hy-Vee stores. Contactless drive-thru options also will be available.
Free doughnuts and coffee also will be offered at all Dollar Fresh locations on Nov. 11, and all veterans will receive 15 percent off their grocery total.
