Four cars were involved in one incident on icy Washington Street yesterday morning.
Alejandra Rojas had been operating a 2006 Buick while traveling east on Washington Street in the inside lane. The vehicle then stopped and was waiting for traffic to clear before turning left on to Cherry Street. A 2007 Chevy van operated by Danial Guttierrez had also been traveling east on Washington Street in the inside lane, but when the Gutierrez vehicle attempted to stop it began sliding on the icy roads.
The Gutierrez vehicle then swerved into the outside lane in an attempt to avoid the Rojas vehicle but still collided with the rear of the Rojas vehicle.
Due to the Chevy van suddenly swerving into the outside lane, an eastbound 2001 Chrysler operated by Mark Kimzey had to stop abruptly. Kimzey?s abrupt stop caused a 1999 Pontiac operated by Tristen Horn-Hart to strike the Kimzey vehicle from behind.
Total damage was estimated at $11,000. No injuries were reported at the scene.
Danial Gutierrez was cited for failure to stop within an assured clear distance ahead.
