OTTUMWA ? Indian Hills Community College is partnering with Carlson College of Massage Therapy to offer a continuing education class for massage therapists.
Mario Castro will teach the course, ?Low Back Specifics,? May 6-7.
Designed for practicing therapists, the class will provide practical hands-on experience on identifying structures of the low back, identifying muscles involved in low back dysfunction and how to stretch low back muscles. Therapists will learn to use clinical reasoning skills to become better detectives for patients/clients.
Massage therapists will receive 12 continuing education hours for completing the class. Continuing education credit will also be awarded for physical therapists and occupational therapists.
This is the first time IHCC has offered continuing education for massage therapists. The class will run from 5:30-9:30 p.m. May 6, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 7. The cost for the class is $195. Persons can register by calling 641-683-5281 before April 19.
