Illinois man arrested after short chase

A short chase on Sept. 6 resulted in the arrest of Timothy Bush, 45, Chicago, Ill., according to the Henry County Sheriff?s Office.

Officials said that a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle, which was traveling at excessive speeds on U.S. Highway 34 near Penn Avenue. The vehicle did not stop upon being approached by the deputy.

The vehicle finally stopped on Highway 34 just after it crossed into Des Moines County.

Bush was charged with aggravated misdemeanor eluding, careless driving and speeding 30 miles-per-hour over the posted limit. Bush will be charged out of Cook County, Ill., as well for a parole violation. He is being held in the Henry County Jail on a $2,600 bond.

The New London Police Department, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Des Moines County Sheriff?s Office assisted the sheriff?s office.
