On Saturday, October 30, Iowa Wesleyan University will host Impact Pro Wrestling.
The event's purpose is to give students and the community something new to experience in Mt. Pleasant.
Haleigh Cowan, the associate director of student engagement and activities at Iowa Wesleyan, said, "We haven't ever had anything like this here."
Cowan said the idea first came during new student orientation.
"Dr. Dewayne Frazier, who is the university provost, came to me during new student orientation and said that this is an event that would really go over well with our students, especially after the very important dedication to the new Mark Willis wrestling facility."
The event will feature a live wrestling event, similar to the WWE.
Former Iowa Wesleyan student Cody Lee has joined Impact Pro Wrestling and will make his return to campus.
The event will take place in the gym with a professional ring. Those who show up early may get the opportunity to meet and take photos with the performers.
Cowan said the reception has been positive.
"So far, the reception has been great, and we are really looking forward to having this event," she said. "We hope to see everyone there on Saturday. Bell time is at 7 p.m."
Impact Pro Wrestling was started in 2001 by Troy Peterson is the longest-running wrestling promotion in Iowa. It's entering its 21st straight year.
