Larry Brenizer, Industrial Arts instructor at the Mt. Pleasant Community High School, will retire at the end of the school year after 31 years of service.
Brenizer has taught his craft for 36 years of his life ? five years in Missouri prior to his tenure in Mt. Pleasant. Originally from Missouri, Brenizer attended the former Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, Mo. with the intention of combining Industrial Arts training with Math and Science courses.
?I started out taking Math and Science classes, but I gradually moved away more from Science than I did Math,? he said.
?But I have always liked building things. I used to help my grandpa construct buildings when I was a kid.?
