Intercultural consultant Tom Morgan of Fairfield will present ?Intercultural Competence for Global Business Success? at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Revelations Bookstore and Cafe.
The event, organized by the Fairfield Entrepreneurs Association, is open to all.
?The purpose of the talk is to raise awareness among Fairfield businesses, organizations and entrepreneurs about intercultural competence and its importance in doing business successfully,? said Morgan. ?Culture has everything to do with how we build relationships and conduct business around the world. Culture is a much greater factor than most people realize in the success or failure of all of our business transactions.?
But intercultural competence is not just for people doing business in China or going to Europe or India, Morgan said, explaining that intercultural interaction is now a daily event for a large percentage of the world?s population.
?It?s certainly a daily event for each and every one of us in Fairfield whether we realize it or not,? he said. Each of us lives and works with people from many different cultural backgrounds. We work in multicultural organizations. We live in a multicultural community. We live in an interconnected world. Intercultural competence is critically important for all of us in today?s world.?
In his presentation, Morgan will explain what intercultural competence is, why it is a necessity for everyone if he or she wants to function effectively in today?s world, and how people can build intercultural competence for themselves and the organizations they work with.
As an intercultural consultant, coach and trainer, Morgan has worked with more than 100 Fortune 1000 companies and other leading companies in defense, automotive, oil, agriculture, food, insurance, financial services, media and entertainment, information technology, telecommunications and other industries.
