RICHLAND - State DOT officials say construction replacing a bridge on Highway 78 west of Richland is on schedule, close to two months after work started on April 11.
With the old bridge now removed, crews are taking the first steps of building the new structure over the Canadian-Pacific railway tracks.
“We still expect the project to be completed in late fall, so that’s where we are,” District 5 Transportation Planner Hector Torres-Cacho said. “They’re just starting to drive the piling for the new bridge.”
While the project is coming along, Torres-Cacho said it was still too early to pin down a more specific end date.
“It’s just depending on weather,” he said. “That’s the best guess we can give at this point.”
