Iowa approaches 2,000 total COVID-19 cases

The state of Iowa is almost to 2,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday.
Gov. Kim Reynolds said the state had 96 new cases on Wednesday, bringing Iowa's total number of COVID-19 cases up to 1,995, just five short of 2,000.
Reynolds also said there were six new deaths due to COVID-19 on Wednesday: an elderly person in Polk County, and elderly person in Clayton County, an older adult in Allamakee County and an older adult in Johnson County.
Locally, Washington County saw six new cases on Wednesday, bringing the county's total number of positive COVID-19 cases up to 101.
Henry and Jefferson Counties saw no new positive cases on Wednesday, keeping the counties' numbers at 22 and four respectively.
Reynolds added that there was one new long-term care facility outbreak in the state at Wilton Retirement Community in Muscatine.
Wednesday was also the first full day that the new version of the Iowa Department of Public Health's coronavirus website was available.
The IDPH website shows where each long-term care facility outbreak is occurring as well as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at each facility.
McCreedy Home in Washington County announced an outbreak previously. As of Wednesday, there are 19 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the facility.
The Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids, which is located in Linn County, is currently experiencing the worst outbreak with 104 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday.
