IOWA CITY (AP) ? An 18-year-old Iowa City man has been accused of cutting a hole in an attic wall so he could burglarize an adjoining home.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen says Jerome Brooks Jr. is charged with felony theft and burglary. He remained in Johnson County Jail on Wednesday, pending $5,000 bail on each charge. Online court records don?t list the name of his attorney.
Police say the victim reported the burglary the week of Sept. 9 and said the items taken included savings bonds, electronics and some jewelry. Police say Brooks often visited the residence that adjoined the victim?s home and that he?d cut a hole in the drywall that separated the two attics.
