DAVENPORT (AP) ? A Davenport high school teacher and coach accused of sexually abusing a student has resigned his two district posts.
The Quad-City Times says 37-year-old Daniel Schneiderman?s resignations were accepted by the school board on Monday night. He?d been head basketball coach and a special-education teacher at North High School.
Schneiderman is charged with sexual abuse by forcible fondling, sexual exploitation by a school employee and telephone dissemination of obscene material to a minor. He?s pleaded not guilty.
Police say Schneiderman kissed and held down and fondled a 14-year-old student in January 2011. Police say he also exchanged sexually explicit text messages with the girl and groped and made sexually explicit comments to her during school.
